Elisabeth Vogl studied psychology (diploma) at the University of Trier and Agnes Scott College in Decatur/Atlanta in Georgia (USA) with minors in sociology and political science. In 2014, she completed her doctorate in psychology as a major subject and education as a minor subject at the Chair of Personality Psychology and Educational Psychology (Prof. Pekrun) at LMU Munich and at the same time obtained the additional certificate in ‘Learning Sciences’ at the Munich Centre of the Learning Sciences. In her doctoral thesis, she dealt with the ‘Causes and Effects of Epistemic Emotions’, which was awarded the doctoral prize of the Munich University Society. In 2023, she habilitated and received the venia legendi in psychology as well as the authorisation to teach at the LMU Munich. During her habilitation, she worked intensively on how emotions and emotional competences can be understood and promoted in an educational context. In 2017, she held the professorship for Educational Psychology and General Psychology II at Leuphana University in Lüneburg (W2) and in 2020 the professorship for Personality Psychology and Educational Psychology (W3) at LMU Munich. She is currently an academic counsellor at the Chair of Personality Psychology and Educational Psychology (Prof. Rauthmann) at LMU Munich.
Her research focuses on analysing the causes and effects as well as the interplay of emotions, motivation and cognition, particularly in teaching and learning contexts. In addition to the experimental and correlative analysis of the fundamental relationships between these constructs, Elisabeth Vogl is also interested in developing practical interventions for the design and optimisation of teaching and learning processes and evaluating their sustainability.
